Winter 2021

We worked on the game experience, in its visuals, sounds and gameplays. We want to offer an immersive neo retro experience. We want to convey our passion for video games and our enthusiasm to be an independent, self-funded development studio. In addition to this, you need to know more about it.

The Man Behind the Code

​Akedo Studio is the initiative of a 3D programmer who worked at Ubisoft Montréal - from Rainbow Six to For Honor by Splinter Cell and Watch dog. Nostalgic for his first lines of code on Amiga 500, when he created his first game: an "Asteroid" shooter, Nico wanted to rediscover the taste for creation, as well as the beauty and magic of old school video games. In 2016, after eleven years devoted to big budget games, Nico left the AAA industry to create his own gaming technology, in order to develop low and medium budget games.
Big fan of e-sports games such Street Fighter and Dota, Nico also draws his passion from games like Mario, Zelda, Quake III, Counter Strike, Starcraft, Unreal Tournament, Heroes of Magic and Might, Sonic, Tomb Raider and many more, from the late 80s to the most recent versions ...

Indie for "independent"

Independent video games primarily refer to video games developed without financial support from a publisher. Akedo Studio is completely independent because self-funded, we have developed our own technology and we define our editorial.

Our values

Professionally and personally, we are very committed to values ​​such as honesty, creativity, authenticity, spontaneity and simplicity.

The side we take

At Akedo Studio, we rely on the spontaneity of the player. We created a video game development studio because we are driven by the exploration of several game systems, and several universes. It couldn't be reduced to a single project.

In the 90s, Nico drew a bee wearing a cape on the corner of a college notebook. This bee is now our logo. But let's be honest, he's the head of a troll!

​Fall 2019

  • November 16 - 19: for 4 days, Akedo Studio presented its game at MEGA + MIGS;
  • October 31: Halloween paytest at Gameplay Space in Montreal;
  • October 24: playtest at Hangar 51 in Montreal;
  • September 6 - 8: Akedo Studio, selected by Loto Québec, had 3 days to present its game in the Indie Zone of Montreal DreamHack;
  • August 29: first public playtest of The Curse of the Lost Cause at Gameplay Space in Montreal.
299 people have played the Nick Reckless in The Curse of the Lost Cause demo during the 5 events that Akedo Studio attended.

​Summer 2019

At Akedo Studio, we want to challenge the human behind the interface. So we started by challenging ourselves by laying the groundwork for the development of our first game with a team of students.

June 4, 2019: first day of a 13-week epic game asset production with a team of 7 people following a partnership with Rubika Montreal and a Speed ​​Jobbing with 17 students.

Our structure is completely independent. We jumped in with both feet by launching the marketing and communications machine with the production of the website, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram and Facebook.
